Education

In Maastricht, the knowledge and skills of tomorrow’s doctors are shaped today. Tomorrow’s doctors are able to manage any medical problem. Their education prepares them to be full-fledged problem solvers who can rely on a broad knowledge base and the ability to gain access to new knowledge. The programme structure is varied and internationally oriented. From the beginning, students are confronted with aspects of real medical practice. In this way they will be prepared to work in an international environment.

The 'basic doctor’ programme at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences consists of the three-year bachelor’s in Medicine and a three-year master’s programme. The Department of Family Medicine deliveres teachers and developers for the medical curriculum from Year 1-6. We also provide interships in Family Medicine. In year 5 we organize a mandatory clerkship of 10 weeks for every medical student. In year 6 we offer limited interships of 18 weeks in Research or Health Care in Family Medicine.
