Heuvelland course

Effective writing and publishing scientific papers
Since 2011, two senior researchers from our department, Dr. Daniel Kotz and Dr. Jochen Cals, have been organizing the PhD training course 'Effective writing and publishing scientific papers'.

In this course, various topics about the process of writing and publishing scientific papers are addressed during interactive teaching sessions, including tips and tricks for clear and concise writing of a powerful paper; do’s and don’ts of titles, abstracts, tables, figures, and references; planning and collaborating with co-authors and supervisors; and choosing the right journal for submission. Participants’ manuscripts in preparation are used as examples during most of the sessions in order to discuss relevant problems and give concrete feedback.

The primary target audience is: junior researchers and PhD students from health, medical, and life sciences who wish to write articles for peer-reviewed journals more effectively and efficiently, with a focus on biomedical research.
