Curriculum vitae

I started in 2008 with the Bachelor programme Health Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam. I have made my first steps in research in my third year during my 3-month internship at the Emgo+ institute/VUmc about patient safety.
This experience made me decide to follow the Health Sciences Research Master in Maastricht. I chose for the specialization of Health Technology Assessment. During my HSRM-internship I conducted a systematic literature review about the use of monitoring technology to assist elderly persons to live longer independently in their own homes. In addition, I conducted a mixed methods study by questioning informal caregivers about the degree of burden they experience by making us of a survey and in-depth qualitative interviews. I was supervised by Luc de Witte (HSR/Technology in Care Hogeschool Zuyd), Carmen Dirksen (kemta), Manuela Joore (kemta) and  Monique Lexis (Technology in Care; Hogeschool Zuyd). They gave me the opportunity to present my review at the AAATE conference in September 2013. The review was published online in Autumn 2014. After graduating in March 2014 I started working in May 2014 as a PhD at the department of Family Medicine. My supervisors are Prof. Dr. Dinant and Dr. Cals.
